You might recall we wrote about this beautiful Asian Lantern Festival at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens early last month. Well – the event officially opened this past weekend and we had an opportunity to catch a preview just prior.
Even in some light rain the stunning display of lanterns peppered throughout the park were a delight to observe. Check out some of the features guests can enjoy:
So vibrant and playful. And if you pay close attention you even have the opportunity to get your very own wings:
“The Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild is the only event in Central Florida celebrating the culture, art, and beauty of traditional lantern festivals celebrated throughout Asia for centuries. This inaugural event was created in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture, Inc., an international event design and manufacturing company headquartered in Zigong, Sichuan, China.
The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has been transformed into a dazzling evening experience featuring more than 30 larger-than-life displays of illuminated sculptures depicting animals, plants, and traditional Chinese elements. In addition to the hand-made LED lit lanterns, festival attendees will get to enjoy local food and beverage options, live music, and authentic artisan crafts.”
If you haven’t caught this unique exhibit before it’s definitely worth a trip to Sanford to check it out. Perhaps a much-needed date night? A chance for the family to spend some time together? Or something different for a friends outing? Guests can now purchase tickets at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical website (not an affiliate link). Ranging from $18.50 – $20.00 (and with a major savings when purchasing four tickets together), advance purchases are highly recommended, as the event was incredibly popular during its first run. Since the event takes place in the evening no admission to the zoo is required. The lanterns will be set up on a 3/4 -mile trek throughout the Zoo. Festival hours will be in the evening, and entry will require a separate ticket from normal Zoo admission. The festival takes place entirely outdoors and is rain or shine.
