There’s no arguing there are about one million and one places around Central Florida when it comes to choices for Chinese food. Whether it’s a nice dine-in restaurant, quick service establishment or just an option for takeout/delivery. One of our favorite–and not to mention consistently reliable–joints is China Hut in College Park. It’s been there for ages, the owners are super-nice, and the food is always good.
“China Hut College Park Restaurant offers authentic and delicious tasting Chinese cuisine in Orlando, FL. China Hut College Park’s convenient location and affordable prices make our restaurant a natural choice for dine-in or take-out meals in the Orlando community. Their restaurant is known for its variety in taste and high quality fresh ingredients.”
One of the things we like most about China Hut aside from the food is the ability to order online (either for delivery or pick-up). And orders are mostly completed and fulfilled within a stated 45 minutes – although in our experience it’s much, much sooner. The wait times could be a tad longer on weekends, but truthfully we’ve never, ever had an issue with time.
For as long as we’ve lived in the nearby area and have been frequenting China Hut, we’ve never once dined in. That said, while often heading to the restaurant to pick up a called-in or online order we’ve had the chance to go inside and notice how charming (which usually translates to quaint!) the interior is. A tiny, tiny sushi bar has a home at the very back of the restaurant, and there are only a few tables and couple of booths lining the exterior and interior. All throughout COVID, as far as we can tell, they’ve had no in-room dining options at all.
So let’s get on to the food. That’s what we’re really here for after all, isn’t it? Similar to the one million and one other places, China Hut’s menu isn’t anything innovative or mind-blowing. You’ve got your standards and that’s ok. What we can say about the menu, though, is it’s rather extensive and there are a ton of options for guests to choose from. There are a few things we have in rotation when it comes to dishes from China Hut. We really dig the General Tsao’s Chicken as well as the Beef with Broccoli. Yup – real adventurous, eh? But, seriously – we’ve tried many other things from the China Hut menu but on this particular occasion we went with some of our very favorites.Pan Fried Dumplings. Perfectly “browned” and juicy, this dish is a great way to start off any meal.
General Tso’s Chicken
General Tso’s Chicken. Yup – another dish of bravery. NOT! But this other standard dish we like to order so often is some of the best we’ve had from any Chinese joint. Located under the “House Specials” section of the China Hut menu, this dish a pretty much a staple on any Chinese restaurant’s roster. And China Hut’s is really, really delicious: Chunks of chicken meat, deep fried then sauteed with hot pepper sauce.
Beef with Broccoli
Sure Beef with Broccoli is pretty non-adventurous. But when you know what you like and what you like is always good – why not stick with it? The thing we enjoy about this standard-at-every-single-Chinese-retaurant dish at China College Park is it’s always prepared so perfectly. At least how we like it.
The meat is so flavorful and is marinated in just the right amount of brown sauce. And the broccoli is cooked just right…almost al dente which is just how we prefer it. And it’s always so green!
Each of these dishes comes with a side of white rice, and then there are some additional options available for an upcharge:
PRO TIP: If you work in or around the College Park area and are looking for a place to grab lunch, they do offer “Daily Lunch Specials”…which are essentially some of their more popular dishes at discounted rates. They’ve also got some really great regular coupons on the right rail of their website, where customers can get all types of free food when they spend a certain amount. Worth a look, for sure.
