The Keg Social Entertainment Complex Near UCF

Eat. Drink. Play. Socialize.

You gotta love a one-stop-shop kinda place for food and entertainment. And The Keg Social in east Orlando fits the bill perfectly. It’s almost like a Chuck E. Cheese or even a Dave & Buster’s on crack. If you’ve ever been to any of these you know then.

Now to some both the name and location of this giant entertainment complex might seem familiar. It’s actually where the previous Firkin & Kegler Family Entertainment Center used to be located. We couldn’t dig up too much information on when (perhaps a little less than two years ago?) and why the owners decided to shut down and re-brand, but it’s quite obvious they did. We can only assume the name and recognition factor played a large part. After all, The Keg Social is a helluva lot easier to remember and recite than Firkin & Kegler. Wouldn’t you agree?

If you’re not at all familiar with either Firken & Kegler or The Keg Social then one of the first things you’ll note upon driving up is the size of the building. That’s because the interior of the complex is gigantic. It’ll become even more apparent once inside. Immediately upon walking through the main entrance guests will notice a seating area on the left with one of the first of many bars:

And on the right is the first of a ton of game options with the “Ping Pong” room.

Moving on through this area into the main section of the complex, there’s another bar on the left and the “axe bays” on the right.

“Step aside darts, thereโ€™s a new game in town. Designed so that anyone can play. Axe throwing at The Keg will allow visitors to throw actual axes at dart-board like targets, while scoring points. Remember, proper form gets you a proper score.” โ€“ TheKegSocial.com

Let’s put the brakes on for a moment. We’ve already talked about ping pong and axe throwing and we’ve barely made it through the front doors. So before we even get to the food and drinks portion of the chat (which, let’s be honest, is what we’re really here for) here’s a quick overview of all the games and entertainment patrons will find:

  • Axe Throwing
  • Billiards
  • Bowling
  • Karaoke
  • Pinball & Retro Arcade
  • Ping Pong

So as far as the “eat & drink” portion of The Keg’s value prop, they definitely do not let patrons down. The Keg Social’s menu isn’t the most extensive we’ve ever seen but man do they have some great selections from what they do offer. This ain’t your typical bar food, that’s for certain. Everything from IPA Buffalo Cauliflower to a Fry Flight (blackened crinkle cut, bbq tots, jerk waffle cut fries that comes with Parmesan Hefeweizen Aioli, beer cheese & IPA mustard cream โ€“ yum!) for starters, to a Half Smoked Chicken, Crispy Chili Chicken Sliders, some very unique offerings on flatbreads (many of them beer-centric) to some really killer lookin’ burgers (The Keg Burger is mouth-watering just reading the description).

During our visit we went with something really simple because we’d just snagged a meal prior to coming (if we’d only looked at the menu prior to visit–hint, hint–we would’ve made a different decision): The Keg Social Truffle Fries. Cooked to perfection and dusted lightly with parmesean, these bad boys are accompanied with a Hefeweisen Aioli for dipping.

One of the things we didn’t get to check out and is a must-do for the next visit is the Waterside Patio. There’s a “backyard” behind the huge complex filled with comfy furniture, overlooking a beautiful lake. Perfect for enjoying one of The Keg’s many cocktails or beers and catching up with a friend.

What do you think? Sound like a really fun night out? If you’re thinking about heading out sometime soon and are a big planner, check out pricing at The Keg Social and the layout of all the games so you can organize things accordingly. Also one thing to note: After 9pm all guests must be 21+ (and have a photo ID to verify).
