“Plant Street market is a local community market located in historic downtown Winter Garden, with 20 vendors featuring natural, organic food and handmade products all inside of one building.”
Y’all already know we’re big pizza fans (see here and here and here and here – need we go on?). Who doesn’t love pizza?! And there’s certainly no shortage of pizza options in the Central Florida area and beyond. Recently we headed over to Plant Street Market (attached to Crooked Can Brewery) in downtown Winter Garden where we discovered Michaels Ali Coal Fired Pizza.
If you’ve never been to Plant Street Market or Crooked Can Brewery, it’s basically a farmers market type of set up with food and retail vendors lined up along the way.
Michaels Ali is nestled in between a few of the other vendors right near the brewery. One of the great things about visiting the brewery and Plant Street Market right now during Covid is there is plenty of outdoor seating, and places to walk around. That said, when we and our dinner companion settled on landing at Michaels we immediately bee-lined over to the menu to take a look at what was offered. There are many delicious “pies” to select from – as well as other dishes like stromboli, wings, chicken fingers, and cheesy bread – but our group all decided to “build our own.” But first we’ll start with this yummy appetizer (aka – side item) we wanted to try out. This dish of five meatballs is topped with house-made marinara and shaved parmesano. Honestly not the absolute best we’ve ever had, but most definitely tasty and worth the cost.
The food vendors at Plant Street Market have a pretty neat little system. Once you place your order you can head outdoors to the ample seating, and you’ll receive a text when your order is ready for pickup. This also gives customers an opportunity to head down to the brewery to pick up a beer or two to enjoy with their food.
Moving on to the main feature.
Now, of course this is what we’re all here for. THE PIZZA! As was the case with the aforementioned meatball dish, while this isn’t the absolute best pizza in all of Central Florida and maybe not even in the top five, both of the pies we selected were really delicious. Unless pizza is really, really bad…it’s really pretty good.
Our pies were pretty basic. The first being a cheese and pepperoni pizza sprinkled with bits of basil. The pie was oven baked to a perfect crisp, and the basil added a nice little tasty “surprise” with every few bites.
