We love it when we’re made aware of amazing, “cool,” or even just everyday things happen to everyday people. It’s what our “People” section is all about, after all. People are the heart and soul of our awesome city, right? So when we were recently provided some information about the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra awarding Boone High School’s Chamber Strings the 2020 Orchestra of Distinction Award, we had to give a little love by highlighting it here.
“The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to work with our Central Florida educators and recognize outstanding music programs in our community. We look forward to working with our 2020 Orchestra of Distinction and watching these students partner with Philharmonic musicians,” said Executive Director Paul Helfrich.”
The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra: High School Orchestra of Distinction program provides recognition, encouragement, and support to outstanding high school orchestras in Central Florida. It was developed to showcase the excellent musicianship and instructors of Central Florida high schools, while also providing valuable insight from our professional musicians to inspire and delight our community’s students. By participating, schools receive special opportunities for learning and growth, in addition to valuable positive feedback from professional musicians and educators. High school orchestras from Central Florida are eligible to apply for the program.
The award will be presented at an Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra concert in the 2020-2021 Season.
In addition to this honor, Lake Nona High School’s Symphonic Orchestra has been awarded the 2020 Orchestra in the Wings.
Pretty sweet, eh? If you’d like to learn more about the Orchestra of Distinction you should visit Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s website.
And, if you’re somehow involved with or have a child in either of these groups we’d love to hear about it. Just drop us something in the comments of this post.
