Maple Street Biscuit Company

Maple_Street-logoDo you like breakfast foods? Sure you do. But even if you don’t it doesn’t really matter: You’re about to have your mind blown.

So a couple of months back a friend of mine texted me one morning, asking “Hey, are you doing anything? Wanna go get some breakfast?” My response: “Duh.” All you have to do is mention the idea of food and I’m on board. My friend knows that. Plus – she also knows I’m one of those folks that’ll pretty much do anything if you ask…and I’m free.

Cut to us driving out to the Oviedo area to check out Maple Street Biscuit Company. We both live in the downtown Orlando area so it was a little bit of a trek, but a “food adventure” is the best kind! Now with a name like Maple Street Biscuit Company you’re absolutely correct in assuming this is a “southern” eatery at heart (and not at all for those seeking a healthy dining experience – although there are some healthier options on the menu). With locations planted in southern states: Georgia, North and South Carolinas, Tennessee, Texas, and obviously Florida (we’re home Central Florida’s only location of the chain’s Florida stores; go here for a complete list).

So once we arrived at our destination…

The Sticky Maple
A Ridiculous Amount of Food

…all of that happened. A ridiculous amount of food, indeed. ⤴️ Quite often I let my eyes be a little–or A LOT–larger than my stomach. In fact, on this occasion there were one or two dishes I’d even completely forgotten I’d ordered until they were delivered to the table. Oh well….

Featured here is what I and my take-an-adventure-for-food buddy ended up with:

  • The Sticky Maple
  • BAM! YoYo
  • Hashups
  • Hash Brown Cake

I literally can’t keep from drooling as I’m sitting here putting this together, recounting the dishes laid out in front of us. You can read about each of the individual dishes on the menu (link directly below) but I’d have to say my favorite was the Hashups, oddly enough. The dish is home fries with chopped smoked ham, red and green peppers, grilled onions and melted cheddar cheese. Dang – there goes that drool again.

For complete info on the Oviedo location including the menu visit the Maple Street Biscuit website.

The restaurant’s dining room is a tad on the tiny side so if you plan on heading in during peak times of the day–which is likely anytime they’re open for business–anticipate a little bit of a wait. Also something to consider if you’re going with a larger group. There is outdoor seating, though, so if the weather’s nice we’d recommend finding seating there.

PRO TIP: One of the really fun things I love about this place is they have fun. When placing your order the employee will ask a question along the lines of “What’s your favorite vacation spot?” or “What’s your favorite song?” And your answer will be used to help you identify your order when it’s ready. When I visited I was asked “What’s your all-time favorite band?” I, of course, replied “10,000 Maniacs” since that’s true…and they were my very first favorite band. I undoubtedly let out a chuckle as it was quite obvious the person behind the counter had no clue who 10,000 is. Regardless, whatever question you receive when you go HAVE FUN WITH YOUR ANSWER.
