“Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Habitat Orlando & Osceola ReStore’s.
Habitat for Humanity for Humanity of Greater Orlando has made the difficult decision to close our two ReStore locations and discontinue our retail line of business to focus solely on our mission to provide affordable housing, effective January 31, 2019. At this time we will no longer be offering volunteer orientations for new volunteers. We apologize for this inconvenience but hope you will consider volunteering on our construction site.”
This was an email I received a couple of weeks after signing up for a volunteer orientation at Habitat ReStore. I’d wanted to do or give a little something with some of my free time. Now I’m not divulging any information that isn’t currently available to the general public. Official details can be found on Habitat’s website and via this PDF. I merely wanted to share this info with folks as for many–as was the case with myself–volunteering and giving back is a big part of the holiday season and personal goals in a new year. So just FYI volunteering time at Habitat ReStore in Orlando/Central Florida will no longer be an option.
Please follow this link (provided to me by Habitat) to sign up for available construction opportunities: https://sforce.co/2LwtMdd.
There are currently two (2) ReStore locations in the Central Florida area:
- Habitat For Humanity ReStore Baldwin Park
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore Florida Mall
If you have any questions in regards to the closure of Habitat’s ReStore’s you are welcome to contact Betsy Culpepper at email@example.com (public information).
