A Christmas Carol at Orlando Shakes

                                                                    🎄🎄🎄

It’s that time of year again when all of the lights, decorations, sounds, and shows of the season all but infiltrate our lives, with the intent of hopefully lifting our spirits. One thing thing that always seems to do this for me is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. No matter how many times or ways it’s told (yeah – you know I’m talking about Scrooged) it jolts me back into a mindset of really knowing what the season–and life, for that matter–is really all about.

One tradition here in Central Florida is when Orlando Shakes presents this tale every year. In partnership with UCF’s production, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and adapted by Jim Helsinger is now running through December 30th in their Margeson Theater. Quoting their own website about the show:

The miserly and miserable Ebenezer Scrooge greets each Christmas with a “bah humbug,” until he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Join us for the heartwarming story of one sleepless night in which the spirits reveal cruel realities and a chance to change for the better.”

While nothing quite groundbreaking or earth shattering about the productions, they remain a sweet and well-told adaptation of the beloved story.

And a huge thanks to Orlando Shakes as they’ve provided this little sneak peek of the show for our readers:

Wanna meet the cast? Visit the Orlando Shakes website for pics on the actors and find out what roles they’re playing. You’ll also find info there on the Creative Team (Director, Designers, etc.), and a behind-the-scenes look on how the production is coming along on their blog.
