Discovering a new place to burn some calories is always pretty cool. Thinking back, the last time I was this excited about a ‘find’ was when my good friend, Dena Davis, started her boot camps at Lake Eola.
This morning, I headed to the 6 a.m. spin class at SWEAT Gym in College Park. Even though I lived right across the street for years, I never made it in until I moved 20 minutes away. Sigh, my timing sucks, but better late than never, right?
The moment I walked in, I knew this was the type of gym where people go to get down to business. It’s not ultra-fancy, but you get the feeling immediately that you’re about to get a killer workout. And, even at 6 a.m. the place is bustling. Hell, there was a class even earlier than the one I attended and it was packed! The next 45 minutes were awesome–Beth Lewis led a group of about 12 of us on a high-energy workout sure to leave your legs in noodle-mode for the rest of the morning.
Classes are $15 for dropins, but the gym also offers 6-packs and a few other options. Wanna train? That’s an option, too. One look at hardbody-owner Laura Allen and you’ll be hooked. So, if you’re looking for a way to offset all the pumpkin pie you plan to inhale over the next week or two, head on over to SWEAT.
