Amy Grant Comes to Central Florida

The year is off to a good start: January isn’t even over yet and I’ve already been to two really great live concerts here in Central Forida (although they could not have been more different from one another). Last night I had a chance to see one of my all-time favorite artists perform: Amy Grant. I must admit, though, if I didn’t follow Amy on Twitter I probably would’ve missed the show – the Marketing for this concert kinda stunk.

I took many photos, some of which I’m posting here. (I’m still trying to figure out the best settings on my camera for no-flash, indoor events such as this, so thanks for your patience while I’m doing so.)

Amy looks fantastic for 49, and has a wonderful sense of humor and comforting spirit. If you’ve at any point been a fan of hers over the span of her career and have never seen her live, I highly recommend doing so next time she’s in the area. She puts on a great, moving show that feels intimate…even where there are thousands of people in attendance. Your best bet to keep-up with Amy is on Twitter or via AmyGrant.com.

I was in attendance at this show last week and I have to say that over the 30 years that I have been listening and following her career, she always gives a great show. You can be front and center (where I was) or you can be in the last row of the auditorium or arena, you still feel a connection. The song set list was pretty lite, but for the two new songs she sang, Haiti and Better Than A Hallelujah, remain my absolute favorites to the new set of songs she is singing! You can hear them at http://www.amygrant.com/blogs (by Jennifer Cooke)

Thanks for the info, Alan! Good show, indeed. (I actually bought her concert DVD at the show–which I’ve been wanting for a long time–and have already watched it twice!)

I have seen a lot of concerts, but she does one of the most entertaining shows. I always said that if the music thing did not work out for her she could have done stand-up. Northland’s building is a good venue as well.

I’d never been to Northland – huge church. Probably the biggest I’ve ever been to. And yes…Amy was quite entertaining. I couldn’t stop laughing when she said “one of the best reasons to be pregnant is your boobs get big.” Hilarious!

@Jennifer It really was a great show. Like I mentioned, I’m still trying to figure out the best setting for my camera in situations like this, but at least some of the photos came out ok.
