Happy Trails … Cycling Part 2

If you have a bike, now’s the perfect time of year in Central Florida to explore some of the area’s trails.

If you live Downtown, in Winter Park or Baldwin Park, join me for a ride along Cady Way Trail.

Cady Way Trail

Traveling through Winter Park – from Fashion Square Mall to Oviedo – the new trail bridge stretches the trail across Semoran Blvd. and runs 6.5 paved miles ending at Hall Road where it crosses Aloma Avenue and meets up with the Cross Seminole Trail. Arguably, not my favorite trail in Orlando, it’s still scenic and with few intersections it’s a nice ride.

One the best and longest paved trails in Central Florida is the West Orange Trail. There are five trailheads and outposts throughout the county making this one of the most accessible trails around.

West Orange Trail

Another great one, the Seminole Wekiva Trail is a peaceful 14-mile ride with trailheads at San Sebastian, Markham and Sanlando.

After you’ve had a chance to explore some of these sites, check out my friends at Orange Cycle for more trail tips and maps.

I’ll see you out there!

  1. Cady Way is a nice trail. For some reason you may come across a bum or two hanging by the trail.

I think the West Orange is the best in the Orlando area. It is a bit out of the way, but it is worth the ride. There is some contour to the ground (hills), some nice small towns that the trails goes through, and a sense of being out of the city is well worth the trip. I would highly recommend this trail.

I am patiently waiting on Part 3 of the segment…
